High-Speed Circuit Design Principles:Conclusion

Conclusion

This chapter has described general methods of analysis of high-speed circuits. Time constant methods are shown to provide design guidance for both digital and analog applications. The analysis is not used as a substitute for circuit simulation methods, which give more accurate performance prediction, but are used in addition to simulation. Knowing which circuit elements and device parameters most strongly limit speed and bandwidth provides design insight that most simulation tools lack.
