Languages for Design and Implementation of Hardware:Design Tools and Summary of Languages for Design and Implementation of Hardware.

Design Tools

Electronic design automation (EDA) tools use the various languages mentioned above for design validation, synthesis, test, and manufacturing of hardware. In the last chapter of Section 13 of this handbook, we briefly describe some of the existing tools that are used in design automation of hardware. This subject, however, needs a more thorough treatment that is not the subject of Section 13 of this handbook.

Summary

We have briefly described languages that are used in design automation of electronic digital systems. We have shown the role of each language and some environments and applications that they are used in. The chapters that follow discuss each language at a getting-started level. Many of the chapters are on design languages. The discussions in these chapters are detailed enough that after completing them, readers can start writing codes in the languages that are discussed. Other chapters discuss languages that are used between tools or equipment for exchange of information. Chapters on these languages provide basic knowledge of the language they are discussing enough for being able to read and understand existing codes.
