A four symbol code should be used to express bandwidth and frequency to three significant figures. A letter to denote the unit of frequency is placed in the position of the decimal point, where the letters and band widths are:

This means that a carry is generated if both x i and y i are 1, or an incoming carry is propagated if one of x i and y i is 1 and the other is 0.
